Alabama’s prison problems: Update on cameras, female officers, shower doors

On Jan. 17, the Department of Justice delivered to Alabama a 36-page letter outlining a long history of sexual abuse at Julia Tutwiler Prison for Women. That letter identified numerous remedies and improvements. Many involved investigative procedures, record-keeping practices and grievance policies. But a few were clear, concrete suggestions.
