ADOC, DOJ to improve conditions at Julia Tutwiler Prison for Women

The Alabama Department of Corrections and the U.S. Department of Justice have reached a settlement to improve conditions for prisoners at the Julia Tutwiler Prison for Women in Wetumpka.

The DOJ alleged that ADOC violated the eighth amendment by failing to protect Tutwiler inmates from harm due to sexual abuse and sexual harassment from correctional staff.
