Audit: Nevada prisons comply with federal anti-rape law

CARSON CITY — The state Department of Corrections says a federal audit show Nevada’s prison system complies with the Prison Rape Elimination Act.

Federal standards require training employees, open communication for inmates to report incidents and dictate how the agency investigates reports, said Pamela Del Porto, inspector general for the department. The federal law is aimed at preventing, detecting and responding to sexual abuse of inmates.
