Auditor search

Below is a list of all currently certified, previously certified, decertified, suspended, and restricted auditors. Auditor searches can be customized by location and certification status.

Each PREA audit must have one lead DOJ-certified PREA auditor who is responsible for the conduct of the audit and all work products. A lead auditor can employ other DOJ-certified PREA auditors to function as secondary auditors or support staff who are not DOJ-certified auditors. However, it is important to know that auditors who have been decertified or who are on suspension may not participate in PREA audits, nor as an agent of a PREA auditor. (See 34 U.S.C. §30307(e)(8)(B)(i).) An auditor with 'Restricted' status may need permission from the DOJ PREA Management Office to initiate new PREA audits or complete PREA audits in progress.

Agencies and facilities, as well as DOJ-certified PREA auditors seeking audit support staff, are strongly encouraged to check the list for the names of auditors who have been decertified and auditors who are suspended, to ensure that the selected auditor and support staff employed by the auditor are eligible.

Note that auditors who voluntarily surrendered their certification or were not recertified when their three-year certification expired are still eligible to participate in an audit as an agent of a DOJ-certified PREA auditor.

Ericka is available to conduct audits for adult facilities including, prisons, jails and community confinement facilities. Ericka has a unique perspective of understanding audits from an auditor, agency, and facility perspective. Ericka owns PREA Audit Services, LLC and has also participated as an auditor for the western states consortium.

Ericka has been working as the PREA Coordinator for the Oregon Department of Corrections (ODOC) in the Inspector General’s office since 2012. She has been responsible for implementing and overseeing PREA compliance in 14 facilities. Ericka has been with ODOC since 2001, holding various positions including working in multiple male and female prison facilities.

Ericka is also a member of the Western States Consortium and the National PREA Coordinator Working group, which she has served as the chairperson for the last two years. Ericka has collaborated with the PRC and other national groups to represent PREA coordinators on important policy and practice matters.

Nashla Rivas Salas is the Senior Director on the monitoring and reporting team. Her responsibilities include leading and building the internal capacity of CANY’s monitoring by developing protocols and processes and providing training on good practices in prison oversight. Nashla manages a team of four who are responsible for planning and implementing monitoring visits across the state, authoring reports, and conducting research and analysis on key areas in corrections. Prior to joining CANY, Nashla worked at the NYC Board of Correction as the Deputy Executive Director of Oversight and Evaluation monitoring conditions in NYC jails. Nashla earned a master’s in public administration from NYU Robert F. Wagner School of Public Service and a BA in Urban Studies at Queens College. She is a board member for the National Association of Civilian Oversight of Law Enforcement (NACOLE) where she chairs the jail and prison oversight committee and an advisory board member for the John Jay Master of Public Administration Inspection and Oversight Program.
