Marlean has over 35 years of experience in both the adult and juvenile criminal justice system. She is currently the Juvenile Community Correctional Facility (CCF) PREA Administrator for the state of Ohio Depatment of Youth Services. She was previously the agency PREA administrator for the Ohio Department of Youth Services (ODYS) for over 5 years. Until February 2024 she was working back in a ODYS Juvenile facility as the facility investigator/grievance coordinator. Previous to ODYS, she served as bailiff and court administrator for Medina County Court of Common Pleas, was an adult probation officer and victim advocate. Marlean has facilitated PREA trainings across the State of Ohio since 2009 within the juvenile justice system educating staff on vulnerabilities of confined youth. She has also conducted PREA audits for DHS since 2020.
Cynthia is a retired Program Administrator with Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction. She has over 30 years of experience in the field of corrections, to include adult parole services supervision and community residential program auditing.
Derek Henderson, a certified PREA auditor by the Department of Justice since 2016, brings over 20 years of experience in the juvenile justice field to his role as a Quality Development Supervisor at the Montgomery County Juvenile Probation Department and as a certified PREA Auditor for Juvenile Facilities. Holding a Master's Degree in Criminal Justice Leadership and Management from Sam Houston University, Derek has a deep understanding of the PREA Juvenile Standards and other state juvenile standards.
Derek has completed over 25 PREA audits across the United States. His expertise and knowledge in the field make him a trusted and reliable resource for ensuring compliance with PREA standards in juvenile facilities. Derek is dedicated to promoting a safe and secure environment for youth in the juvenile justice system while upholding the principles of the Prison Rape Elimination Act.
